The St. Thomas the Apostle Vice Province, India (THOM-India), of the Congregation of the Passion of Jesus Christ (CP) , is a religious congregation dedicated to proclaiming God's love through the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, serving the poorest and most marginalized in society. At the invitation of St. Mother Teresa, the first Passionist community was established in India to continue this mission of faith, compassion, and service.
Rooted in prayer, community life, and pastoral ministry, we accompany people on their spiritual journey, bringing hope, comfort, and the transforming message of Christ's redeeming love to those who suffer.
Rooted in 250 years of Cross-centered spirituality, we seek to heal and be healed by the power of the Cross.
We the Passionist family of priests, brothers and laity reach out with compassion to the crucified of today; keeping with our commitment to the primal call to keep alive the memory of the Passion through community life, prayer, text ministry of the Word and Sacraments, enlightening young minds, care for creation and service to the needy.
Meditation on Christ's Passion as the easiest path to holiness.
Living together to support our apostolic mission.
Reaching out with compassion to those who suffer today.
Prayer, solitude, abstinence and fasting for spiritual growth.
Inspired by the Passion of Christ, we reach out with compassion through our ministries and touch lives across the nation.
English, Tamil, Malayalam & Hindi
For many years, the St. Thomas Vice Province prayerfully desired to establish a dedicated retreat preaching ministry in English, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi — a ministry that would bring the Passionist charism more deeply into the hearts of the faithful.
By the abundant grace of God, this dream became a reality in 2019. Since its humble beginnings, the Passionist Retreat Ministry has preached parish retreats across numerous dioceses, fostering spiritual renewal, reconciliation, healing, and conversion.
We are deeply grateful to the bishops, priests, religious, and faithful whose warm welcome and support have made this ministry a blessing to many.
The Cross is not merely a symbol of suffering; it is the supreme revelation of God's unfailing love.
As Passionists, our mission is to proclaim this saving mystery with conviction and compassion, helping every person discover that in the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, every wound can find healing, every burden can discover meaning, and every heart can encounter the hope that never disappoints.
We prayerfully invite every parish and every faithful believer to journey with us in contemplating the Passion of Christ, so that the memory of His redeeming love may be reflected in our lives and hearts.
Every Passionist retreat is a sacred journey to Calvary—a grace-filled invitation to contemplate the immeasurable love of God revealed in the Cross of Christ and to discover hope, healing, and new life through His Passion.
“May the Passion of Jesus Christ be always in our hearts.”
Approximately one week before the retreat begins, a Mission Cross is solemnly erected in the parish. Standing as a visible sign of God's redeeming love, it becomes a silent preacher, inviting every family to prayer, reflection, and spiritual preparation before the retreat commences.
One of the most profound moments of the retreat is the solemn procession with the Mission Cross. This public expression of faith becomes a moving witness to Christ's victory through His Passion and a reminder that every disciple is called to take up the Cross and follow Him.
The Passion of Jesus Christ remains the very soul of our preaching. Every reflection invites participants to encounter the Crucified Lord, whose love redeems, heals, and transforms every human life.
The principal themes include the Passion of Christ, the meaning of the Cross, the Christian understanding of suffering, divine mercy, forgiveness, healing, conversion, hope, discipleship, and the call to holiness.
Throughout the retreat, ample opportunities are provided for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, spiritual direction, personal counselling, prayer for the sick, healing services, and prayers for deliverance. These moments of grace allow participants to experience God's boundless mercy, inner healing, and the joy of renewed communion with Christ and His Church.
